Women in the Sherlock Holmes Stories

May 17 @ 11:15 am - 12:15 pm

The Sherlock Holmes stories are “adventures,” and adventures need heroes, comrades, villains, and, oftentimes, someone in need of rescue. Given the Victorian background of the tales, it is not surprising that the world of Sherlock Holmes revolves largely around men. However, there are many significant women, clients, associates, antagonists among the characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Former history instructor Jeff Bradway has authored numerous papers on medieval history, Edgar Allan Poe, and Sherlock Holmes. He joins the next meeting of the Upper Hudson Chapter of Sisters in Crime on Saturday, May 17, to talk about the women who share the pages with Holmes. The presentation is from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM, Zoom only, and free, but registration is required: https://upperhudsonsinc.com/events/
