More authors are venturing into the self-publishing book market every day, and there’s a lot to know to be successful. Should you hire an editor, design your own book cover, format the manuscript yourself?Jessika Hazleton of Troy Book Makers will discuss the pros and cons of self-publishing at the Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, virtual meeting of the Upper Hudson chapter of Sisters in Crime. Her presentation, which begins at 11:15 a.m., will include steps an author must take from rough manuscript to polished book. She’ll also answer questions from participants.
Jessika Hazelton (manager/author liaison/graphic designer) has been described as “only peaceful when she reads.” A lifelong lover of books and reading (and cats, though that’s not strictly pertinent), she received her BFA in writing and publishing from Emerson College. She hoped to someday find a job at least sort of book related; instead, she hit the jackpot: The Troy Book Makers—who are kind enough to allow her to fulfill her dreams.
