Poets in the Park is celebrating nearly 30 years of bringing poetry in July to the Robert Burns statue in Washington Park, Albany, NY. The series was started in 1989 by the late Tom Nattell and is now run by Albany poet & photographer Dan Wilcox.
On June 2, 2018 this year’s contest winner shared their work at the main branch of the Albany Public Library Community Room.
On Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1-3 pm, the winners of the 2018 HVWG Non-Fiction Contest will read their work at the Albany Public Library Main Branch.
The Hudson Valley Writers Guild is happy to announce the guidelines for the 2018 Non Fiction Contest. Entries must be postmarked between January 5 and March 5, 2018.
Thanks to WGXC in Hudson we will participate in a radio showcase highlighting writers in the region with host Kate Laity.

The 2017 Hudson Valley Writers GUild Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, November 11 from 1-3 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Albany Public Library.
The last Poetry at the Arboretum reading of the 2017 season will be a special open mic for poets and prose writers on Friday, November 3

The HVWG will be offering free workshops to hone your skills. The first scheduled is “Business and Promotion for Writers” with Keith Willis on Sunday, October 29, 2017.
Veterans Writing Project is a D.C.-based nonprofit that provides free writing seminars for veterans and/or their family members.
