We gathered at the historical Pauly’s Hotel for the Poetry and Music Showcase featuring Brian Dorn, Jay Renzi, Mary Panza, & Nick and Pat.
The Nitty Gritty Slam is held on on each 1st & 3rd Tuesday at The Low Beat here in Albany and that means this week it falls into Word Fest.
The kick-off, the 1st round, the ceremonial 1st pitch, the launch of Up the River, the opening lines of Word Fest in the backroom of McGeary’s.
Some poets know how to do it right – Adam Tedesco, tonight’s feature, packed the audience with his wife, mother & an assortment of friends.
This was the last Frequency North of the season at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY featuring poets Sharon Mesmer and Jonah Winter.
The start of National Poetry Month and this was the second of many open mics/readings in the region, with Carol Graser as our host.
Dan WIlcox was back in Albany, at McGeary’s, for the open mic. It was supposed to be a “roast” of Mary Panza, but that was postponed until the Fall.
It didn’t feel quite enough like Spring so a number of poets opted to go inside to hear poetry rather than walk around outside in the cold.
The first slam of 2014 and one of the last to take place at our current home. Dan Wilcox was there, competed, and took a lot of notes.
The annual, pre-Xmas, visit from Sanity Clause, a yearly opportunity for the old fellow to have the badly-behaved good poets of Albany sit on his welcoming lap.
Back at the Garden Room of the Pride Center for this intimate, warm open reading (there is no mic nor no need for one), with our host Don Levy.
