Dan WIlcox made it to Nitty Gritty Slam at The Low Beat for the first time this season and not only competed in the slam, but came in 2nd.
PSL is always a high-powered event with a heavy dose of outrageousness, but tonight promised to be over the top with the feature Tim Verhaegen.
In the absence of the Frequency North series it was refreshing to have this reading by local poets Barbara Ungar and Bernadette Mayer.
“An Evening of Poetry and Prose” was an event hosted and organized by Harvey Havel at the Hudson River Coffee House on Quail St. in Albany.
“64 Changes” is a collection of poems, based on the “I Ching”, by Alan Casline just out from FootHills Publishing.
Nitty Gritty Slam is 100! Albany’s longest running slam. Tonight was the Night of Champions, pitting all of the year’s winners against each other.
The concluding event of Word Fest 2015 was the Slam Invitational held at the Steamer 10 Theater, Albany, NY.
The December Poets Speak Loud was an old-school open mic, no featured poet, plenty of old regulars, with our host Mary Panza keeping order.
It turned out to be quite a night of poetry, performance & Slam at The Low Beat. Kevin Peterson was the host for the open mic & Thom Francis was the host for the Slam.
We really had to speak loud this night in the back room of McGeary’s as the bar was filled with football fans for the snow-delayed Bills v. Jets game.
