Please join us on SUNDAY, APRIL 13TH, 2025 for an Open Mic in Celebration of the Life and Accomplishments of the late, great Robert Milby. Bring 3 minutes of material to perform, either one of Robert’s own poems (many of which can be found on his website, https://robertmilbypoetry.com), a poem of your own written in his honor, or a poem by one of his favorite poets (if you know, you know…).
By his own reckoning, Robert Milby (1970- 2024) was a featured reader over 450 times in his 30 year career as the Hudson Valley’s hardest working poet. He hosted over 30 poetry open mic series in that time. He published four chapbooks, and his most recent book, A Harvest Sonata: Poems for Musicians and Poets, came out in 2023. His rich, evocative work has appeared in numerous periodicals, and anthologies such as Riverine, WaterWrites, and Calling All Poets: CAPS Voices. He was a board member of Calling All Poets from 1999 to 2016, as well as a founding member of the Northeast Poetry Center’s College of Poetry. Robert served as Orange County NY’s Poet Laureate from May 2017 to November 2019.
The event will be held at Elting Memorial Library, 93 Main Street, New Paltz NY, on April 13th, 2025 from 1- 5:00pm. Thanks to the library for their gracious use of the space.
