the [w]itch of a landlady
stopped by to hand deliver
notices of rent increases
starting in the New Year
Only a few days earlier
I came across
an Instagram posting
which mentioned that
Israel was digging up
Palestinian graves
to further encroach
on their soil
and another word
for tenancy
(their word choice
used here)
is occupation
like Israel does
to the Palestinians
and here was this
landlady looking to raise
the rents on people
trying to survive
a pandemic
This was her
(and her husband’s)
answer to the pandemic
and rent moratoriums
and because of
an obstinate tenant
and likely after hearing about
cost of living increases
in paychecks and
by Social Security
because it’s always
about the money
with people

What you take away
from others,
it is sure to be taken away
from you

saying some ignorant shit
about it being God’s plan
that Trump wasn’t seriously injured
or killed
And, so I immediately wrote my
comment saying

and wait it out.
Meanwhile, as I wait, I take my screenshots
