Three Poems – Mackenzie Akin

my love was like a well,
pieces of us seemed to fill it
but echoed at the bottom.

my love was like a well,
and you drank
til it
ran dry.

there’s something about
the way you looked at me.
pallets kindled,
your sweetness glowing with the
brisk air.
incessant.
consuming.
for the first time
in a long time,
i stopped thinking about
the world around me.

i was just
living
and i won’t ever forget that.

you hold pieces of me
still
