Third Thursday Poetry Night featuring Francesca Sidoti
Local poet Francesca Sidoti will read from her work at the Social Justice Center, 33 Central Ave., Albany, NY on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 7:30PM, with an open mic for community poets.
A native and resident of Albany, NY, Francesca J. Sidoti has had work published in Chiron Review, Haight-Ashbury Literary Journal, Viet Nam Generation, South Ash Press, Moonstone Arts Nikki Giovanni Tribute, eunoia review and other literary magazines. Francesca works in state prison settings on a team of rehabilitative providers, assisting with educational programs for incarcerated youth. Her current book, Civil Twilight and Other Transitions, is available from the author.
A reading by a local or regional poet/writer has been held since July 2006 each third Thursday at the Social Justice Center. The event includes an open mic for audience members to read. Sign-up starts at 7:00PM, with the reading beginning at 7:30. The host of the readings is Albany poet and photographer Dan Wilcox. The suggested donation is $5.00, which helps support this and other poetry programs of the Poetry Motel Foundation, and the work of the Social Justice Center.
