Third Thursday Poetry Night featuring Rachel Baum

Poet Rachel Baum will read from her work at the Social Justice Center, 33 Central Ave., Albany on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 7:30PM, with an open mic for community poets.

Rachel R. Baum is the founder of Moving Mountains Poets and the Saratoga Peace Pod, crafters who create warm items for families in crisis, as well as the Saratoga Senior Center monthly poetry open mic. She has two poetry chapbooks: Richard Brautigan’s Concussion (Bottlecap Press, 2023) and How to Rob a Convenience Store  (Cowboy Jamboree Press, 2024).

A reading by a local or regional poet/writer has been held since July 2006 each third Thursday at the Social Justice Center.  The event includes an open mic for audience members to read. Sign-up starts at 7:00PM, with the reading beginning at 7:30.  The host of the readings is Albany poet and photographer Dan Wilcox.  The suggested donation is $5.00, which helps support this and other poetry programs of the Poetry Motel Foundation, and the work of the Social Justice Center.
