Poetry/Storytelling Open Mic

Featuring Poet Jay Rogoff,
Author of seven books of poetry, including The Cutoff, which won the Word Works Washington Prize, and, from Louisiana State University Press, The Long Fault, The Art of Gravity, Enamel Eyes, and, most recently, Loving in Truth: New and Selected Poems.

His new book, Becoming Poetry: Poets and Their Methods, has received the Lewis P. Simpson Award for outstanding literary criticism. His poetry and criticism have appeared widely, in such places as AGNI, Georgia Review, Hopkins Review, Kenyon Review, Salmagundi, and Southern Review. A longtime dance critic, he is working on Balanchine Is Now! an exploration of how George Balanchine’s ballets express interior human life, and on a booklength poem. He lives in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Please join us for the Senior Center’s poetry/storytelling open mic!
No need to drive at night or hunt for a parking place!

The program will begin with a reading by Jay Rogoff,
followed by the open mic.

Each open mic participant reads 2 short poems.
Storytellers have 5 minutes to tell, narrate or perform their piece.

Please be respectful of your fellow writers by reading for 5 minutes or less.

The Saratoga Senior Center Open Mic is supportive,
