Harvey Havel presents A Night of Features 6 at the Hudson River Coffee House (227 Quail Street, Albany) on Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. with featured poets Carol Durant, R.M. Engelhardt, James Duncan, and Nancy Dunlop.
There will be an open mic following the featured readers.
Carol Durant is one of the featured poets at the Spencertown Academy Arts Center 13th Annual Festival of Books, and a UAlbany Alumna with a Masters degree in Africana Studies. In January 2017, Carol decided to become a published author and Whole Phat and Gluten Free Poetry; her first book of poetry hit the shelves in September. Carol also decided to become an actress in 2017. Carol performed in an encore presentation of Harriet Tubman visits The Therapist, directed by Jean-Remy Monnay at Schenectady Civic Theater.
R.M. Engelhardt is an author, poet & writer whose work over the last 20 years has appeared in many journals such as the Rye Whiskey Review, ThunderSandwich, Full of Crow, In Between Hangovers, Writers Resist and in many others. His new book of poetry is called Coffee Ass Blues & Other Poems published by AlienBuddha Press (2018). He is also the host of The Troy Poetry Mission, an open mic for poets located in Troy, NY at Elixir 16.
James H Duncan is the editor of Hobo Camp Review, co-host of the Troy Poetry Mission, and author of such books as We Are All Terminal But This Exit Is Mine, Berlin, and What Lies In Wait. For more about his books and his reviews of independent bookshops, visit www.jameshduncan.com.
Nancy Dunlop is a poet and essayist, who resides in Upstate New York. She received her Ph.D. at UAlbany, SUNY, specializing in Creative Writing and Poetics. She also taught at UAlbany for over 20 years. Most recently, she has been the curator of Wren, an international online forum for women in the arts. A finalist in the AWP Intro Journal Awards, she has been published in a number of digital journals, such as Swank, RI\FT, alterra, Cowbird and Truck, as well as print journals, including The Little Magazine, Writing on the Edge, 13th Moon, Works and Days, and the soon-to-be released Writers Resist: The Anthology, 2018. Her work has also been heard on NPR.
