On Wednesday, August 3, the great Caffe Lena Poetry Open Mic series in Saratoga Springs continues – at a new temporary home – with featured reader Ken Hada followed by an open mic for poetry and spoken word.
While the Caffe is undergoing renovations, these monthly poetry events will be held at Northshire Bookstore, 424 Broadway, Saratoga Springs NY 12866.
Raised in the rural Ozarks, with close ties to his Hungarian ancestors in the gypsum hills of northwest Oklahoma, Ken Hada finds the natural order a powerful presence for writing. In addition to multiple journal publications, his work has been featured four times on The Writer’s Almanac. Ken has received national awards from the Western Heritage Museum and Western Writers of America. His six published books include Persimmon Sunday,Spare Parts, Margaritas & Redfish, The Way of the Wind and The River White: A Confluence of Brush & Quill. Ken Hada is a professor at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where he directs the annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival.
The Caffe Lena Poetry Open Mic, hosted by Carol Graser and sponsored by Northshire Bookstore, takes place on the first Wednesday of each and every month (usually) at Caffè Lena (47 Phila Street, Saratoga Springs). This event has a $5.00 admission charge. Sign up at 7:00, 7:30 readings start.
