The Spring 2014 season of Frequency North kicks off on Thursday, January 30 with the incredible poet, writer, performer, and 2013 Boston Poetry Slam Team member Jade Sylvan.
Sylvan will read Thursday, January 30, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in the Saint Rose Events and Athletics Center (Standish Rooms, Second Floor), 420 Western Ave., Albany. The program is free and open to the public. Copies of Sylvan’s most recent work will be available for purchase and signing.

Sylvan is an award-winning poet and nonfiction writer whose poetry and essays have been published in more than 20 journals, websites and magazines. Her most recent book is Kissing Oscar Wilde (Write Bloody Press, 2012). Sylvan won the 2011 Bayou Poetry Prize and was a finalist in the 2012 Bunchgrass Poetry Prize and the 2012 Write Bloody Book Competition. She has received artist grants from The Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Vermont Studio Center and Amethyst Arsenic (an online publisher of art, poetry and music), and in 2013 was nominated “Best Poet” by The Phoenix of Boston. Sylvan also is a Kripalu-certified yoga teacher; her other passions include tattoos, feminism, queer rights, craft-brewed beers and home-cooked meals.
