The Caribbean American Poetry Association (CAPA) 2021 Poetry Contest deadline is now extended to Monday, 30 August, 2021.
Caribbean poets are invited to submit their original poems for this exciting contest. Poems must be typewritten on a blank sheet of paper with the title. A cover page with the poet’s name, address, phone number, email address, Caribbean affiliation, and the title of the poem must also be included.
If you are a Caribbean-born poet or a poet who has Caribbean heritage; age 18 or older; and you reside in the US, this contest is for you! All poems must focus on an aspect of Caribbean or Caribbean-American life, traditions, customs, culture, or history. The poems may be written in English and/or Caribbean vernacular.
Winners will be selected based on the quality of their poem. Three winners will be chosen – a first prize winner will receive $500; the second prize winner will be awarded $300, and the third prize winner will be presented with $200. Each poet will receive a Certificate of Participation. Contest winners will be notified via email prior to an official announcement in late summer 2021.
