2021 CAPA Poetry Contest Open for Submissions

The Caribbean American Poetry Association (CAPA) is pleased to announce its 2021 Poetry Contest.

The contest is open to Caribbean-born poets or poets of Caribbean heritage, age 18 or older, who reside in the United States of America.  All entries must focus on an aspect of Caribbean or Caribbean-American life, traditions, customs, culture, or history.  The poems may be written in English and/or Caribbean vernacular.

Submissions will be accepted beginning on April 01, 2021 for up to three original unpublished poems per poet with an entry fee of $10.00.  Entries must be postmarked, or date stamped by the deadline, 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday, June 28, 2021.  Poems received after the deadline will not be considered.  Poems must be written by the contest entrant.  Each entry must include a cover page with the poet’s name, address, phone number, email address, and Caribbean affiliation.

Winners will be selected based on the quality of their poem.  Three winners will be chosen – a first prize winner will receive $500; the second prize winner will be awarded $300, and the third prize winner will be presented with $200.  East poet will receive a Certificate of Participation.  Contest winners will be notified via email prior to an official announcement in late summer 2021.
