Join us for the next installment of outdoor events on the patio at The Schenectady Trading Company (609 Union St, Schenectady, NY 12305) on Friday, August 21 at 5:30 p.m., featuring the work of two Schenectady authors with recent publications that are represented in the store. Poet Sarah Giragosian and Author Shena McAuliffe will be reading from their newest collections – both published this Spring.
Giragosian, author of Queer Fish, just released her sophomore poetry collection, The Death Spiral (Black Lawrence Press).
McAuliffe, author of the novel The Good Echo, has just released a non-fiction collection of essays in historical inquiry – Glass, Light, Electricity from University of Alaska Press.
The similarities between both women are intriguing – both are professors at local universities, both just published their second books earlier this year, and both have won prizes and publication through Black Lawrence Press for one of their works. As if that weren’t enough, it’s clear that both women extensively research their works, desiring for the finest details to be rooted in authentic context and carefully crafted nuance.
In addition to the reading, there will be a brief craft Q&A with both authors and an opportunity to purchase an autographed copy of both their debut and newest books. For those who can’t make the event, copies can be purchased in the shop or via the STC website for $8 flat rate shipping.
As would be expected, masks are required and social distancing between parties. A limited number of chairs and benches are available. Free disposable masks/gloves and sanitizer are available for use. Event is free to the public.
