Call for Submissions: Duende

Duende, the national literary journal produced by the students in the BFAW program at Goddard College, will begin reading submissions for our eighth full-length issue.

Duende, the national literary journal produced by the students in the BFAW program at Goddard College, will begin reading submissions for our eighth full-length issue on November 1, 2019.

If you are interested in submitting to Duende we accept prose, poetry, translations, visual art, sound, and hybrid work during our submission windows. We accept visual art year-round. We also warmly welcome collaborations by two or more writers, as well as writers with visual artists. Please see our submission guidelines for more details. Please note that when you submit to us, we reserve the right to either publish your work in the issue or feature it separately as a Monthly Spotlight.

We care about you, what you write and who you are. We are looking for authenticity of voice and writing that celebrates lived experience, in all its forms. Duende is committed to having a majority of the writers and artists in our journal come from groups that are underrepresented in today’s U.S. literary ecosystem. That is to say, most of the work we publish will be from writers and artists who are queer, non-binary, of color, disabled, immigrant, working class, youth, elder, and /or otherwise from communities that are too often overlooked by literary gatekeepers. To borrow a phrase from the Goddard College opening ceremony, we welcome you here!

Please follow the links to the submissions portion of our website to submit your work online.

While there, we encourage you to browse our latest issue, featuring the work of many diverse and talented writers. http://www.duendeliterary.org/
