The Schenectady Trading Company and Electric City Barn continue their free community performance series, A Night of Poetry: featuring Local Poets and Special Guests this-coming Friday night, May 3rd at 7 pm.
This month’s featured poet is Native American author Suzanne Rancourt, who will read selections from her published works, including her award-winning book, Billboard in the Clouds (Curbstone Press), her newest publication, murmurs at the gate (Unsolicited Press), and work “still wet behind the ears.”
Billboard in the Clouds won the Native Writers First Book Award. Her second book, murmurs at the gate, addresses the survivors of trauma, war, and the marginalization of voice. Suzanne, a US Veteran, is an Abenaki/Huron writer and Upstate NY resident. Her work appears in numerous digital and print literary publications. For more info, please visit her website: www.expressive-arts.com.
The event will be held in the second floor lounge at Electric City Barn, 400 Craig Street in Schenectady (large school building with “St. Columba’s School” on the upper facade). Parking is available on the street or in the lots adjacent to the building or across Craig Street. Donations always appreciated for the space.
