Upcoming Poetry Events – Week of March 31, 2019

We have another great week of poetry readings, open mics, events, and slams in the area to celebrate and appreciate the art of spoken word. Here is a look at what is coming up in our poetry community this week as we step into April and celebrate National Poetry Month.

 

Monday, April 1

7:00pm – Poetic Vibe

Poetic Vibe is a weekly Poetry Open Mic with featured local and regional poets hosted by D. Colin in downtown Troy.

7:00pm – Words Between the Stacks
Berkshire Athenaeum, 1 Wendell Avenue, Pittsfield, MA
WordXWord presents poetry in, over, under and through the stacks at the Berkshire Athenaeum. Words will fall, fly, crawl, beg for mercy or demand their freedom as poets speak their truth to kick off National Poetry Month.

Weekly poetry open mic, hosted by Michael Platsky, with featured poet Mike Jurkovic.

Albany Poets has returned to The Low Beat with the Brass Tacks Poetry + Spoken Word open mic series hosted by Thom Francis.

7:00pm – Club Helsinki Open Mic
Club Helsinki, 405 Columbia Street, Hudson, NY
A weekly open mic for music, performance, and poetry on the incredible Club Helsinki stage.

7:00pm – Emack and Bolio’s Open Mic Night
Emack & Bolio’s, Delaware Ave., Albany, NY
A weekly open mic for music and poetry.

7:00pm – Poetry and Short Story Open Mic
Irish Tea Shop, 2460 Route 145, East Durham, NY
All are welcome to join the monthly Poetry & Short Story Evenings that will be held on 1st Tuesday of Every Month at the Irish Tea Shop.

8:00pm – Northampton Poetry Open Mic
World War II Club, 50 Conz St., Northampton, MA
Northampton’s only weekly open mic poetry night offers some of the best, most creative voices in the county. Every Tuesday night at 8:00pm. Come down and listen. Come down and share your words. Academic or slam, spoken word or political: Your words are welcome.

 

Wednesday, April 3

Open mic for poetry and spoken word hosted by Carol Graser at the historic Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs with a featured reading from David Graham.

The ”Albany Area Poetry Chat” is open to the public, free, and meets in public cafe of Honest Weight Food Coop to discuss poetry and literature.

7:00pm – Noble Coffee Roasters Open Mic

Open mic with featured poets hosted by Robert Milby. This month’s featured reader is James Nicola.

7:00pm – Rockhill Bakehouse Open Mic

Weekly open mic for musicians and writers.

7:30pm – Utica Poets Society Spoken Word Open Mic

A weekly open Mic for music, poetry, and spoken word at one of Albany’s best new coffee shops.

6:00pm – Evening Outliers Poetry Brunch

New and established poets in the Capital Region delivering original and established works at the beautiful Opalka Gallery celebrating National Poetry Month.

6:00pm – Northshire Author Event
Northshire Bookstore, 424 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY
A reading by Chase TwichellMargaret Gibson, and Jessica Hornik.

7:00pm – Elsie’s Poetry Night
Elsie’s Luncheonette, 128 W. Main Street, Goshen, NY
Poetry open mic hosted by Magdalen Radovich with featured poet Elena Botts. Donations appreciated.

7:30pm – Calling All Poets
The Roost, 69 Main Street, New Paltz, NY
Calling All Poets is a monthly open mic series, hosted by Jim Eve, Mike Jurkovic, and Robert Milby. This month’s featured poets are Noah David Roberts and Thom Francis.
