Wide World of Writers Week at Dorn Space

If you haven’t heard, local poet Brian Dorn recently opened his very own performance venue, appropriately named Dorn Space, in Gloversville. And to kick things off he has put together a 10-day “Wide World of Writers Week” series of events that starts tonight.

Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 (7 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “Poetry and Prose Open Mic.”
Wide World of Writers Week officially opens with a wide open poetry and prose open mic. Sign up (beginning at 6:30 pm) to take your (5 minute) turn on stage. And, at the conclusion of the event, the first-ever “Dorn Space Poet Laureate” will be chosen from among the evening’s participants. $5 (cash/door only).

Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 (8 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “My Life in the FBI.”
Recently retired (April 2018) FBI Agent, Daniel Kelly provides an inside perspective on the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Audience questions and discussion encouraged. $10 (cash/door only).

Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018 (5 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “King of the Cryptogram” Contest.
Test your skill in an all-out battle of the brain to be the first to solve the monster, mega-cryptogram. Open to all. Arrive early to prepare for a truly pre-historic game of words. Admission and Entry are Free.

Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 (8 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “Defender of Poetic Justice.”
Orange County Poet Laureate, Robert Milby, fires up some symbolism and metaphors in the tradition of poets past and present. $10 (cash/door only).

Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 (8 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “18th President of the United States.”
Steve Trimm presents/portrays real-life superhero and national treasure, Ulysses S. Grant, whose final battle and ultimately his death, took place in a modest cottage in Saratoga County. $10 (cash/door only).

Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018 (8 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “We All.”
This video version of Brian Dorn‘s experimental, spoken word, multi-faceted, stage production will be presented in its entirety including a live presentation at intermission. $10 (cash/door only).

Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 (8 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “Light vs The Darkness.”
Once an inmate on the wrong side of the law, Joshua RA Dundas, also known as “Sin” emerged on his 25th birthday after serving an 8-year sentence with an extraordinary story. A story of love, desire, lust, temptation and how he overcame the demonic darkness that threatened to consume him. $10 (cash/door only).

Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 (8 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “Backwoods Betty.”
Enjoy an evening of poetry and prose with Cozy Acres farm girl (and independent publisher), Betty Zerbst (aka, the Rhyme Weaver). $10 (cash/door only).

Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 (8 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “Housewife Tuesday.”
The irrepressible Mary Panza on stage in a one-woman show featuring material from her popular blog series, Housewife Tuesday. $10 (cash/door only).

Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018 (2 pm)
Wide World of Writers Week presents, “Poetry and Prose Open Mic Finale.”
Wide World of Writers Week officially ends in the exact manner that it began – with a wide open poetry and prose open mic. Sign up (beginning at 1:30 pm) to take your (5 minute) turn on stage. $5 (cash/door only).
