The next poetry open mic at the historic Arthur’s Market & Cafe (35 N. Ferry St., Schenectady) is Wednesday, September 12, 2018, with featured readers, the mother and daughter team Marilyn Zembo Day and Kristen Day.
Marilyn has been facilitating writing workshops for over 25 years. She was a Regional Representative for the International Women’s Writing Guild for many years – which inspired her to create WomanWords, the umbrella under which she organized and lead workshops and retreats locally for 15 years. She has been published in small literary magazines, in newsletters, and in the Albany Times Union, and has read a few of her essays and poetry on local radio. Marilyn has been featured at several local open poetry mics, the most recent of which was a December 2017 co-feature with Leslie Neustadt at Caffe Lena.
Kristen Day is a local artist, poet, and photographer who has been featured at several Capital District poetry venues. Her work includes topics from the serious to the humorous, personal to global. Kristen’s art includes acrylics, watercolors, various kinds of sketching, photography, computer graphics and whatever inspires her at the moment. This is the third time that she and her mom have been featured together.
This great poetry series is hosted by Catherine Norr. Sign-up starts 7:00, Readings begin 7:30
