On Thursday, February 16, poets Andy Clausen, Patricia Martin, Guy Reed, and Victoria Sullivan will headline the New World Writers Night Post-Valentine Love Fest.
Readings take place at New World Home Cooking, 1411 Route 212, between Woodstock and Saugerties. This reading will begin promptly at 7, so please arrive by 6:30 for dinner. Readings include an open mic (5 minute limit) which can be poetry or prose. No admission charge; we take a voluntary collection for the writers. Attendees who wish to have dinner before the reading can call 845-246-0900 for reservations.
Victoria Sullivan is a poet, a playwright, and a performer, as well as co-host of a local radio show on WDST 100.1 FM (“The Woodstock Roundtable, of which she is the “poet laureate”). She has four books published and eight plays performed in Equity productions. She is a member of the Prison Writing Program at PEN America and teaches literature in the Lifetime Learning Institute at Bard College. Her books include The Divided Bed, Alzheimer Dreams, Eating Figs at Twilight, and When I Wasn’t Looking. Her work has appeared in numerous journals, including Pothooks & Hangers, Artist and Influence, Home Planet News, Poetry in Performance, Up the River, Northeast Corridor. and Wild Flowers, as well as in several anthologies. She particularly enjoys performing her work in various venues around the Hudson Valley.
Patricia Martin is an author, poet, performer/actor, and freelance writer/communications professional. She has been featured at numerous events, including The Museum of the Imagination, The Howland Cultural Center, The Dissident Arts Festival, The Woodstock Fringe, and other venues. Martin’s been heard on The Woodstock RoundTable/WDST and Women of Note/WKZE, and published in Chronogram, The County and Abroad, Art Times, Chatham Magazine, WaterWrites, and other periodicals. She created and hosts “SpeakEasy,” a monthly poetry/spoken word series launching in March 2017 at The Performance HUB in Torrington, CT.
Guy Reed is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and author of the 2011 poetry chapbook, The Effort To Hold Light (Finishing Line Press). Most recently, he’s published poems in Poetry East and contributed 2 poems, performing one, in a featured role for the independent feature film, I Dream Too Much (2015, 77 Films, Attic Light Films). A Minnesota native, Guy currently lives in the Catskill Mountains with his wife and their two children.
Andy Clausen is the author of many collections of verse including: 40th Century Man, Home of the Blues, and Ginsberg, Corso, and Me. He has performed his intrepid and often controversial poetry all over the continent and beyond.
