Albany Poets is proud to welcome Mike Jurkovic as the featured reader at the eighth edition of Albany Poets Presents on Wednesday, February 15 at Restaurant Navona, 289 New Scotland Avenue, Albany.
Albany Poets Presents puts a spin on the typical poetry event in the local literary community by highlighting one poet every two months with an interview and Q&A session following the reading.
Host Thom Francis says, “I am very excited to have Mike as a feature at Albany Poets Presents. He is one of the great poets in the Hudson Valley and has hosted and organized some of the best open mics and readings in the region. I have always admired his work and can’t wait to have him back in Albany to share his poems and stories.”
A 2016 Pushcart nominee, Mike Jurkovic‘s poetry and musical criticism have appeared in over 400 plus magazines and periodicals but have generated no reportable income. Full length collections and chapbooks include smitten by harpies & shiny banjo catfish (Lion Autumn Press, 2016), Eve’s Venom (Post Traumatic Press, 2014), and Purgatory Road (Pudding House Press, 2010). His work has appeared in anthologies WaterWrites & Riverine (Codhill Press, 2009, 2007) and Will Work For Peace (Zeropanik, 1999).
Mike is President of Calling All Poets in New Paltz, NY and producer of CAPSCASTS, archival recordings from Calling All Poets reading series. Music features, interviews, and CD reviews appear in Elmore Magazine and the Van Wyck Gazette.
Albany Poets Presents will be recorded live to be distributed through the Albany Poets website and other outlets.
