R.M. Engelhardt is bringing even more poetry to downtown Troy with a new monthly open mic and featured reader series at O’Brien’s Public House (43 Third Street Troy, NY). This new spoken word event begins Wednesday, September 28.
Here is more information from the host himself:
A very long time ago in England the original idea of The School of Night was a group of free thinkers and writers who in the 1500s met in secret to share and discuss ideas in England. It was rumored that such figures as Christopher Marlowe and Sir Walter Raleigh were a part of this clandestine group. The second School of Night was begun in Albany, NY in the late 1990s at Valentines Nightclub to continue that very ideal and it worked with area poets and amazing writers of the upstate NY community.
Since those days poet, writer & host R.M. Engelhardt has moved on to Troy, NY which has now become a great community for creativity and the arts where he has created another space and opportunity for poets & writers to express themselves once again at O’Brien’s Public House, 43 Third Street Troy, NY held on the last Wednesday evening of each month.
