PARK(ing) Day is a fun annual, worldwide event where artists, activists, and citizens independently—but simultaneously—turn metered parking spots into temporary public parks or enjoyable and creative open space. The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the necessity of urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat… at least until the meter runs out!

The event runs from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Albany Poets will have space for local poets to write poems for the community, an opportunity for people to come and write their own poetry, and a special open mic for poetry and spoken word throughout the day. We will also have information on how you can get involved in the Albany poetry community.

We’ve been saying “Write What You Live What You Write” for a while and this tomorrow you can come out to Lark Street and do just that, write!
