On Wednesday, June 3, summer in Saratoga kicks off with the great Caffe Lena Poetry Open Mic. Host Carol Graser will be welcoming featured poet Jordan Smith followed by an open mic for poetry and spoken word.
Jordan Smith is the author of seven collections of poetry: An Apology for Loving the Old Hymns (Princeton University Press, 1982);Lucky Seven (Wesleyan University Press, 1988); The Household of Continuance(Copper Beech Press, 1992);For Appearances (University of Tampa Press, Tampa Review Poetry Prize, 2002);The Names of Things Are Leaving (University of Tampa Press, 2006); The Light in the Film (University of Tampa Press, 2011); and Clare’s Empire (The Hydroelectric Press, 2014). Smith is also the author of three chapbooks: Three Grange Halls (Swan Scythe Press, Swan Scythe Chapbook Prize, 2002); Greatest Hits (Pudding House Press, 2003); The Flute is Zero(Right Hand Pointing, online, 2006). He lives in upstate New York and teaches at Union College.
This open mic takes place on the first Wednesday of each and every month at Caffè Lena (47 Phila Street, Saratoga Springs). This event has a $5.00 admission charge. Sign up at 7:00, 7:30 readings start.
