Dain Brammage was the featured poet at the post-Word Fest edition of Poets Speak Loud on April 24, 2006. This was a very special edition of PSL as it was not just our monthly poetry and spoken word open mic at the Lark Tavern, but also day two of a Paddy Kilrain benefit event. Paddy, a local singer/songwriter, was hit by a drunk driver in late-March 2006 and Albany’s poets and musicians all got together to help raise money for her medical expenses. It was a great night of poetry and community and a perfect way to the 2006 Albany Word Fest.
Dain Brammage has been writing and performing poetry since about the year 2000. His work is often derived from placing himself in someone else’s shoes and writing from their perspective. This may be because from eighth grade to tenth grade DB moved with his family across the USA. Starting in Monterey, California and moving to McCall, Idaho, then Picayune, Mississippi and finally Albany, New York.
