Join Albany Poets for an incredible night of poetry and spoken word on Friday, July 18 at The Linda with the members of all three Nitty Gritty Slam Teams (2012 – 2014).

Poets scheduled to perform at this great event are: Elizabeth Gordon (2012), ILLiptical (2012, 2013), Algorhythm (2012, 2013, 2014), D Colin (2012), Kevin Peterson (2012, 2013, 2014), Poetyc Visionz (2013, 2014), Daniella Watson (2013), Daniel Summerhill (2014), and Billy Buchanon (2014).

NittyGrittySlam-logoAlbany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series have brought slam back to Albany with the Nitty Gritty Slam at The Low Beat (335 Central Ave.) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month. Each NGS event features an open mic for poets and performers to get on stage and share their work, a featured poet on the first slam of the month, and then Albany’s poetry slam.

Nitty Gritty Slam, the official poetry slam of Albany, NY, certified by Poetry Slam, Inc., began in September 2011, after nearly a decade without slam in the area. Since then we have sent two teams to the National Poetry Slam (2012, 2013) and plan on sending poets to the Individual World Poetry Slam (iWPS) and the Women of the World Poetry Slam (WOWps) in the coming months.
