The November edition of the Sunday Four Poetry Open Mic series is right around the corner and hosts Dennis Sullivan, Edie Abrams, and Mike Burke have a great featured poet lined up for the pre-Thanksgiving reading. Saratoga poet Andy Fogle will take the stage at the Old Songs Community Center in Voorheesville on Sunday, November 24 at 3:oo PM.
Andy Fogle has published five chapbooks of poetry, most recently The Last Apprenticeship (White Knuckle), as well as various nonfiction essays about literature, education, and baseball in The Writer’s Chronicle, English Journal, Gargoyle, Cobalt, and Popmatters. He grew up in Virginia Beach, and then spent 13 years in the DC area, studying, slamming, playing music, and teaching. He now lives in upstate NY, teaching high school and working on a PhD in Education.
Here is a little more information from the hosts of this great series:
Sunday NOVEMBER 24th Saratoga’s own Andy Fogle will feature at Sunday Four, Old Songs, Voorheesville, 3 pm.
Andy will read from his latest book, The Neighborhood We Left, and we will find out why he was staring at beer in the refrigerator.
Open mic as usual: three real short poems, or two real medium, or one real longer-than-medium poem.
To celebrate a pre-Thanksgiving thanks for all the great work that is being done in our extended area,
for all the poets who are working hard at their craft, we will repair to the POETS’ CORNER at Smith’s Tavern
after the gig. An Irish whiskey sometimes heals the sorrowful soul.If you are new to this round world of ours, you might like to check Smitty’s out on their relatively new website – http://www.smithspizza.com/smiths_tavern_poets_corner.html
