Woodstock Poetry Society Featuring Carey Harrison and Dorota Czerner

Phillip Levine

The monthly gathering of the Woodstock Poetry Society takes place this coming Saturday afternoon at the Woodstock Community Center starting at 2:00 PM. Host Phillip Levine is welcoming two fantastic writers this month, Carey Harrison and Dorota Czerner.

Woodstock Poetry Society & Festival as part of the Woodstock Arts Consortium is sponsoring the following poetry event as part of the Woodstock “Second Saturdays” Art Events. For a full listing of “Second Saturday” events, see: www.artsinwoodstock.org.

Novelist Carey Harrison and poet Dorota Czerner will be the featured readers, along with an open mike when the Woodstock Poetry Society & Festival meets at the Woodstock Community Center, 56 Rock City Road, on Saturday, October 12th at 2pm.

Carey Harrison is thrilled to be appearing on the same bill as the wonderful poet, Dorota Czerner. Carey’s new novel (from which he will be reading), his 16th, entitled Justice, has just been released in the US, from Dr. Cicero Books, and in Britain, from Skyscraper Publications. In Roll Magazine, Nancy Chusid wrote, A book about beauty, love, romantic love, maternal love, the love of true and treasured friendship, and the transformative power of compassion. When you finish it, you, like the characters in it, will also feel transformed.Carey lives in Woodstock, teaches at the City University of New York, and is Artistic Director of The Woodstock Players Theater Company.

Dorota Czerner was born in 1966 in Wrocław, Poland, and completed her studies in Philosophy and Logic at the University of Paris IV, la Sorbonne. She is a writer, published poet, and editor of the Open Space magazine, as well as a collaborator on many projects involving video, music, and mixed media performances. She has spent 15 years in Paris and currently resides in Woodstock, NY. Though most of her recent work has been in English, the artist keeps in close touch with her mother tongue thanks to the translatory practice. She is currently working on a novel entitled “a place of dunes” which is an experimental prose interweaving the Polish and English languages.

Here is the list of what Phillip has lined up for the remainder of the year at the Woodstock Community Center.

November 9 – George Wallace and Stuart Bartow
December 14 – Dennis Bressack and Donald Lev, plus the Annual Business Meeting

  1. 6keo – The Last few years I was extremely low on $$ and debits were killing me from all angles! that was UNTIL i decided to generate money on the INTERNET. I landed on surveymoneymaker point net, and started doing surveys for money, and really, I’ve been far more able to pay my bills! I am very happy, that I did this!! With all the financial stress these years, I really hope all of you will give it a chance. – FnOh
