There is a lot going on next week including new open mics and slams in Western Mass, storytelling at the Olde English, and the return of the Old School Slam at Valentine’s for Nitty Gritty Slam #47 as we are in full preparation mode heading to the National Poetry Slam. If you play your cards right you can check out Glenn Werner as host and featured poet in the same week. He is hosting the Poetry, Beacon open mic in Beacon on Wednesday and then on Thursday he is featuring at Dan Wilcox‘s Third Thursday Poetry Night in Central Ave. And if that is not enough, make sure you check the events page often, we are adding more events everyday.

Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series are bringing slam back to Albany with the NITTY GRITTY SLAM. NGS takes place at Valentine’s (17 New Scotland Ave.) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month. If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam. Sign up begins at 7PM, open mic starts at 7:30, and the slam starts at 8PM. Admission is $5.00 ($3.00 with student ID). This is an 18+ show.
