Our friends over that the WordXWord Festival in Pittsfield don’t just host their annual poetry event in the summer, they are bringing poetry to the Berkshires all year and this month is no different.
Their WXW Writers Room series takes place every Tuesday night at yBar (391 North Street, Pittsfield) with a great mix of open mics and featured readings. Here is what is coming up in March.

Open Mic with a twist! – On The Spot hosted by Gabriel SquailiaPoets sign up to take the challenge. Prompts are drawn from a hat. 10 minutes to write. Poems are performed. Repeat for round two. Traditional open mic will follow, time permitting.

Story Slam hosted by James BurdenThe theme is “Food or Drink.” Stories are true. Three minute time limit. This time there are prizes for everyone! Plus food sharing/slam – everyone is invited (not required, invited) to bring in a “food with a story” to share.

Open Mic hosted by Emily Pulfer-TerinoFirst come, first served – sign up at the door for a spot to share your work or a favorite work of another. Ten 5 minute slots. Signups start at 7P.

Writers Room Feature Night presents Angel NafisAngel Nafis‘ work has appeared in FOUND Magazine’s Requiem for a Paper Bag, Decibels, The Rattling Wall, Union Station Magazine, GirlSpeak Webzine, The Bear River Review, and MUZZLE Magazine. In 2011 she represented the LouderArts poetry project at both the Women of the World Poetry Slam and the National Poetry Slam. She is an Urban Word NYC Mentor and the founder, curator, and host of the quarterly Greenlight Bookstore Poetry Salon reading series.
And don’t forget next month is National Poetry Month and WXW will be again having their “April 30/30 Poetry Challenge – 30 days, 30 prompts, 30 poems”.
And they need your help. Add a writing prompt to our collection. All the prompts submitted go in the hat to become one of 30 drawn at random.
