On Sunday, February 24, the Sunday Four Open Mic series continues at the Old Songs Community Center with featured poet Sylvia Barnard. This is certainly one of great poetry open mics in the area. A nice Sunday drive for words and community.
Hosts Dennis Sullivan, Mike Burke, and Edie Abrams sent along the following:
Sunday February 24th Sylvia Barnard will be at Sunday Four at Old Songs in Voorheesville.
Come her her unique brand of poetry. We hate to say there is something for everyone but Syliva’s work does capture the imagination.
Afterwards we always repair for food and good cheer to the POETS’ CORNER at Smith’s Tavern, a dozen or so houses away from our space. Everybody is welcome to show us their post-Valentine’s Day heart.
Sylvia taught the classics and Latin literature in Latin & in translation at University at Albany for 40 years and has been active in the peace community since coming to Albany. She has been the featured poet at Poets in the Park, Third Thursday Poetry Night at the Social Justice Center, and at the Readings Against the End of the World hosted by Tom Nattell. She is also a regular face at many of the Albany area open mics and the Albany Word Fest.
