The last Yes! reading of the semester is taking place on Friday, November 30 with another fantastic lineup of artists. Corina Copp, Colby Somerville, Rawaan Alkhatib, Jason Cust, and Robert Williams-Taylor will be part of an evening of “poetry, dance, food and drink” at the Social Justice Center on Central Ave. starting at 8:00pm.

Corina Copp is most recently the author of Pro Magenta/Be Met (Ugly Duckling Presse 2011), with publications forthcoming from Bad Press, Minutes Books, and Trafficker Press. Poetry, performance texts, and critical writing can be found soon or now at The Claudius App, The Cambridge Literary Review, Boston Review, BOMB, SFMOMA’s Open Space, Mrs. Maybe, Wild Orchids, and elsewhere. Her play The Whole Tragedy of the Inability to Love: SUSANSWERPHONE was presented this October at the CUNY Graduate Center’s three-day PRELUDE.12 Festival. She is a former editor of The Poetry Project Newsletter (2009–11), and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Colby Somerville is the author of Death TV 1-6 (Lightful Press). See recent work in LVNG, Super Arrow, and The Claudius App. He currently lives and writes in Brooklyn, NY.
Rawaan Alkhatib is a poet and visual artist from Dubai. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. More work can be found at www.rawaan-alkhatib.com.
Jason Cust is a 24 year-old flexer from Brooklyn, New York. Jason began dancing around the age of 14 and has been a part of various New York dance groups such as: Collateral Damage, UFB, Maineventt and Full Surface. Since then, he has danced on “Flex in Brooklyn,” a beloved Brooklyn-based dance showcase, on which appeared on BCAT, a local Brooklyn TV station. In the dance style of flexing, Jason specializes in the genre of “pauzing,” which involves the strenuous use of muscles in order to create the illusion that the body is making precise stops. Jason continues to further his influence on the flex community by being one of the co-founders of D.R.E.A.M, a Brooklyn-based dance league, as well as his participation in well known nationwide dance league Battlefest.
Robert Williams-Taylor is a 20 year-old flexer from Staten Island, New York. He has been dancing ever since his Sophomore year in high school. Within the dance style of flexing, he specializes in the genre of “bonebreaking,” which involves the flexibility of joints in the arms to create contortion, creating illusions of various characters and animations. He has danced for various New York dance leagues such as BattleFest, D.R.E.A.M and Rep Your Style. He is currently working on getting a Bachelor’s Degree at Sage College of Albany, majoring in Creative Writing.
