Our friends at The Adirondack Center for Writing have a lot going on up in the North Country region of New York. Here is some information that we received on one of the great literary events that is coming up.
Join us at the Old Forge Open Mic to share your writing on stage. Local writer Glenn Miley will host the evening at the Old Forge Library, May 16th at 7p.m. Miley will read some of his own work and open the stage for you to share your work in a welcoming environment. Whether you’ve been waiting for the right time to debut your work or you’re a veteran of the Open Mic scene, we’re looking forward to hearing it.
Mr. Miley is a two-time winner of the Old Forge Library poetry contest, a winner of the Dunham Library poetry contest, and received second place in the American Pen Women / Post-Standard contest. He does public readings around the area.
“I like to review my day each evening and ask: What did I see today that sparkles in some way?” Miley says. “When I am out of ideas, I try to write from another viewpoint. For example: I am a June Bug or I am a civil war soldier.” Come to the Open Mic to hear some of Miley’s unique perspectives, and to share your own!
The Open Mic is cosponsored by the Adirondack Center for Writing, a resource and educational organization that provides support to writers and enhances literary activity and communication throughout the Adirondacks. ACW benefits both emerging and established writers and develops literary audiences by encouraging partnerships among existing regional organizations to promote diverse programs. ACW is based at Paul Smith’s College and is supported by membership and the New York State Council on the Arts.
