We kicked off the 2012 Albany Word Fest in grand style yesterday with Pitchapalooza at St. Rose in the afternoon and then we headed down to McGeary’s for the Founders Reading. This was a very special reading featuring performances from some of the poets who have been with Albany Poets since day one. Albany Poets founders R.M. Engelhardt and Thom Francis welcomed the crowd, gave a little history lesson, and then introduced the great talent that has been integral to the upstate poetry and spoken word community for all these years. Poets Dan Wilcox, Mojavi, Marcus Anderson, A.C. Everson, Don Levy, Mary Panza, Rob, and Thom all shared their work and looked back on the accomplishments made over the past 12 years. Here are some photos of the reading last night. We will be posting photos all week of the Word Fest events, so check back often.
