Valentines is the place to be for poetry and spoken word this week with the Nitty Gritty Slam tomorrow night and the Intangible Collective rolling into town on Friday.
The group is no stranger to the area, having performed a many times over the years bringing their mix of poetry, hip hop, and spoken word to shows including the 2005 Albany Word Fest (also at Valentines).
The Intangible Collective is a mix of artists from many backgrounds that have united to share their multiple artistic talents with both one another and an audience at large. The Intangible Collective aims to connect with and empower artists, audiences and communities through multiple mediums of creative expression via live performance, publications, new media, and educational workshops. By definition with regards to their name, the word Intangible refers to qualities that affect performance, but are not readily definable. Thus, the Intangible Collective as a group is an expression of art in and of itself.
The show on Friday night starts at 8:30PM and there is a $5.00 cover at the door. You can find more information on their tour schedule and the artists involved on their website and Facebook page.
