There are two big events this weekend starting with the Yes, Reading! at the Social Justice Center (33 Central Ave., Albany) featuring Book Thug poets Marianne Apostolides (author of three books, most recently Swim (BookThug, 2009) and The Lucky Child (Mansfield Press, 2010)), Jay MillAr (author of several books, the most recent of which are esp : accumulation sonnets (2009) and Other Poems (2010)), Andrew Hughes (author of Sweethearts of the Great Migration and Now Lays the Sunshine By), and Mark Goldstein (author of Tracelanguage: A Shared Breath, his second title with BookThug, a transtranslation of poet Paul Celan’s seminal work, Atemwende). The reading starts at 7:00pm.
Then on Saturday, the words continue to flow as Jawbone and the University of Albany present “Transtranslation, A Creative Writing Workshop with Jay MillAr and Mark Goldstein” from 2:00pm-4:00pm. This workshop is free and open to all graduate students and will include a presentation of all materials and methodologies, a group discussion, and hands on transtranslation.
