Judith Prest Announces Fall Workshops

Judith Prest

Being In Your Element
October 7, 1-3:30 p.m., First Reformed Church of Scotia, 224 N. Ballston Avenue, Scotia 12302

Work with the ancient concept of “the four elements” – earth, water, fire and air. Through collage and writing, we’ll explore how these ancient forces are showing up in our daily lives and what messages they might contain about ourselves and our journey. This workshop is part of a series of workshops being offered by the Capital Region Theological Center and Krieger Solutions, LLC.  You can find more about these here. Please use this link to register.

Thin Places
October 30, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Still Point Interfaith Retreat Center

“Thin Places” are places where the veil between the spirit and material worlds is thin. These can be geographical places, points in time or periods in our lives. We will explore “Thin Places” through quotes, poems and images, and we will respond with our own writing and art making. (NO previous writing or art experience or “talent” required.)  Bring your journal and a lunch. Fee is $70 if registered and paid by October 10; $80 after October 10. For more info or to register, contact Judith at (518) 895-8001 or jeprest@aol.com or private message me on my Judith Prest Facebook page

Splashing Around in the Word Pool, a second series of poetry workshops
Tuesday Evenings, November 2, 9 & 16 at the Schenectady Public Library

This is a “sequel” to the first series given at Niskayuna Public Library in May, but you do not have to have been there to come to these. We will fool around with poetry using prompts. We will write in community and share.  Each session will have writing prompts focused on a particular topic to jump start the poetry, but as always, participants will be free to write whatever they are moved to write. No previous writing “experience” necessary. Free to the public, but pre-registration through the Schenectady Public Library is required.
