Two Poems – Andrei Duțu-Buzura

Now the only home I know is my own mind
The only place I know that is really really mine
It’s got the old things and the new
The Christian and the Jew
The only home I know is my own mind

Now the only peace I know is when I’m burried deep inside
Burried deep inside my own mind
It’s the place that’s really quiet
It’s the place that’s really safe
The only peace I know is when I’m burried deep inside

Now the only love I know is when I love myself
When I love myself
I love nobody else
It’s the only love I make
It’s the only love I take
The only love I know is when I love myself

Now the only home I know
The only peace I know
The only love I know
Is in my own mind
So strangers keep your distance
Strangers waste their time
Because everything I care for
Is in my own mind!

The All-Seeing Eye is Blind

they bring forth their offerings
they honor their dead
they light the sacred fire
on their altar bed
but it was all useless
because it never crossed their mind
as they were crying to the heavens
the all-seeing eye went blind

they prayed to the father
they prayed to the ghost
they broke bread and poured wine
and called for a toast
but the prayers were unanswered
because it never crossed their mind
as they feasted on flesh and blood
the all-seeing eye was blind

they put on their suits
they covered their heads
whispered the sacred words
and counted the beads
but the light was barren
because it never crossed their mind
as they were looking for wisdom
the all-seeing eye stayed blind
