FRIDAY WORKSHOP INFO:

A Journalistic approach to writing a novel.
How to add the right details without becoming an encyclopedia. Former news reporter turned award-winning mystery author, Sujata Massey will explain how writers can describe settings that aren’t their hometowns and wallow in time periods long before they were born.

Alison Gaylin: Creating Lead Characters: Series versus standalone. Will discuss how well-developed, flawed and compelling protagonists drive the narrative in both series and standalone crime fiction, mistakes you might make in creating a series character and how to develop the best original voice for both types of books, using the elements like dialogue, setting and description. With exercises so bring a pen and paper (or laptop).
