We have another great week of readings, open mics, events, workshops, and slams in the area to celebrate the literary arts. Here is a look at what is coming up in our community this week…

 

Sunday, October 13

6:30 pm – Short Story Reading and Discussion Group

Local short-story writer Dave Sylvester discusses the short story form, looking at how writers handle plot, character, and theme in their writing.

7:00 pm – Poetic Vibe

Poetic Vibe is a weekly Poetry Open Mic with featured local and regional poets hosted by D. Colin in downtown Troy.

 

Tuesday, October 15

7:00 pm – Brass Tacks

The Brass Tacks Poetry + Spoken Word Open Mic series, hosted by Thom Francis, at The Low Beat, continues. Signup starts at 7, open mic begins at 7:30.

7:00 pm – Colonie Tuesday Night Live Poets’ Corner
William K. Sanford Town Library, 629 Albany Shaker Road, Loudonville, NY
Local poets and writers of all ages are invited to present six to ten minutes of their original work at this open reading forum. The public is encouraged to stop in and listen.

7:00 pm – Club Helsinki Open Mic

A weekly open mic for music, performance, and poetry on the incredible Club Helsinki stage.

7:00 pm – Emack and Bolio’s Open Mic Night

Wednesday, October 16

6:30 pm – Book Launch with Author Matthew Rozell

A book talk and signing with local author Matthew Rozell as he launches D-Day and Beyond- The War in France, which is Volume 5 in the best selling ‘The Things Our Fathers Saw’ oral history series.

Featured Poets + open mike for poets, fiction writers, essayists with rotating hosts. Located in the restored Philipse Manor railroad station, which is approx. 30 miles north of midtown Manhattan and 2.6 miles north of the Tappan Zee Bridge.
