Caffe Lena Poetry Open Mic Featuring David Eye and Richard Hoffman

Caffe LenaOn Wednesday, July 5,  Caffè Lena will present poetry readings by David Eye and Richard Hoffman.   An open reading will follow. Doors open for sign-ups at 7pm and the readings will start at 7:30. The host for the event will be Carol Graser and the cost is $5. Free for students

David Eye is the author of Seed, released in 2017 from The Word Works, chosen by award-winning poet Eduardo C. Corral. He is the recipient of a 2014 Tennessee Williams Scholarship in Poetry from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and he was a finalist in the (unrelated) 2015-2016 Tennessee Williams Poetry Contest, selected by Yusef Komunyakaa. David earned an MFA in Creative Writing in 2008 from Syracuse University, and he has since taught at Manhattan College, Syracuse University, St. John’s University, and Cazenovia College. He grew up in rural Virginia and lives (for now) in the Catskill Mountains.

Richard Hoffman is author of the Half the House: a Memoir, and the poetry collections, Without Paradise, Gold Star Road, winner of the 2006 Barrow Street Press Poetry Prize and the 2008 Sheila Motton Award from the New England Poetry Club, and Emblem. A fiction writer as well, his Interference & Other Stories was published in 2009. His new memoir, Love & Fury, is just out from Beacon Press. He is Senior Writer in Residence at Emerson College.
