How to get involved in Saratoga Poetry Focus Group

The Saratoga monthly Poetry Focus Group has been running for 25 years and meets the third Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. – noon sharp with a maximum of 6 poets at any given meeting. Each poet gets around 40 minutes to read, hear, get round-the- table poetry critique, and speak about any poetry-related subjects and ask poetry related questions.

What – Saratoga Poetry Focus Group

When – Third Wednesday of each month, except if it falls on a big holiday

Where – 205 Regent Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866

Contact – Barbara Garro (518) 587- 9999

How to Get Involved – Sent 10 pages of poetry to Barbara Garro and have a conversation about why you would like to join the group and what you can contribute to the group.

Important to know: Must have a reservation to attend any meeting, and this is accomplished by telephone; must bring 6 copies of each poem you bring to the group for critique. Members encouraged to let Barbara Garro know ASAP if they cannot attend a meeting for which they have a reservation to open it up to another poet.

Many of our poets have chapbooks or full poetry books by mainstream publishers, and Barbara Garro has a full-length poetry book Love Bites, published by Cambridge Books in November 2016, first in the “Barbara Poetry Series.”
