Poets Speak Loud – Please Insult Me: The Roast of Mary Panza

Mary Panza

On Monday , September 28, Poets Speak Loud will present our “Annual” Celebrity Roast! This time around we are roasting the one that tries to keep everyone in line at Poets Speak Loud, Mary Panza.

You read it right! Now is your chance to put the Albany Poets VP in her place.

There will our usual open mic and in lieu of a feature we present to you some of Albany Poets’ best ball busters to try to bring Mary to tears and then she gets his turn to make them cry!

All proceeds from the night will go to the Homeless Action Committee, a local organization dedicated to improving the lives of homeless people and advocating for permanent solutions to the problems of homelessness.

Bring your poetry and let the games begin!

Mary Panza has been a mainstay on the Albany Poetry scene since 1988. She has been witness to countless open mics, naked poets, fires, drunks, chapbooks, career changes, organizations (both coming and going), festivals and great poetry and spoken word. She was on her way living the rest of her life as a party girl when (at 37) the party really began when she became a mother.

Poets Speak Loud is Albany Poets’ long-running monthly open mic for poetry and spoken word with a featured poet hosted by local poet Mary Panza at McGeary’s (4 Clinton Square) in downtown Albany on the last Monday of each and every month.

Sign-up for the open mic is 7:00pm, we start around 8pm.
