The Official Launch of Pine Hills Review with Elisa Albert and Gregory Pardlo

The Esther Massry Gallery at The College of Saint Rose presents ARTWAVES: “The Official Launch of Pine Hills Review,” the new literary magazine of the Saint Rose master of fine arts in creative writing program. Noted authors Elisa Albert and Gregory Pardlo will read from their recent works as part of the launch celebration.

Albert and Pardlo will read Friday, September 5, at 7 p.m. in the Esther Massry Gallery, Massry Center for the Arts, 1002 Madison Ave., Albany. The event is free and open to the public. Copies of their most recent works will be available for purchase and signing.

Preceding the launch, a reception will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in combination with the opening of “BLACK,” an art exhibition by Brian Cirmo in the Standish Atrium Gallery, and the re-opening of the “Art+Design Faculty Exhibition” in the Esther Massry Gallery.

Named for the Pine Hills neighborhood of Albany, New York, Pine Hills Review’s staff is comprised of Saint Rose students and faculty. According to Daniel Nester, associate professor of English and the journal’s editor-in-chief, “We publish artful, honest and compelling work of new and established writers, from fiction, nonfiction and poetry, to visual art, interviews and experimental work.”

Elisa AlbertElisa Albert is the author of After BirthThe Book of Dahlia and How This Night is Different, and editor of the anthology Freud’s Blind Spot. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Tin HousePost RoadGulf CoastCommentarySalonTabletLos Angeles Review of BooksThe Rumpus, on NPR and in many anthologies.

Gregory PardloGregory Pardlo is the author of Totem, winner of the American Poetry Review/Honickman Prize in 2007. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in American Poetry ReviewBoston ReviewCallalooGulf CoastHarvard ReviewThe NationPloughsharesTin House, and Best American Poetry 2010. Pardlo is an associate editor of Callaloo, and his second collection, Digest, is forthcoming from Four Way Books.
