There is so much poetry and spoken word happening in the area and this week is no different. There are back-to-back readings kicking off the week with the Sunday Four Open Mic in Voorheesville on Sunday then Monday night’s Poets Speak Loud reading with featured poet Melody Davis at McGeary’s in downtown Albany.

Sunday, February 23

Monthly open mic for poets and poetry with a featured poet hosted by Dennis SullivanMike Burke, and Edie Abrams at the Old Songs Community Center in beautiful Voorheesville, NY.

 

Monday, February 24

7:30pm – Poets Speak Loud

Poets Speak Loud is Albany Poets’ monthly open mic for poetry and spoken word with a featured poet. This month the long-running open mic will be hosted by Mary Panza with featured reader Melody Davis.

Weekly poetry open mic with featured reader hosted by Michael Platsky.

 

Tuesday, February 25

7:00pm – Club Helsinki Open Mic

A weekly open mic for music, performance, and poetry on the incredible Club Helsinki stage.

7:00pm – Emack and Bolio’s Open Mic Night
Emack & Bolio’s, Delaware Ave., Albany, NY
A weekly open mic for music and poetry

7:00pm – Open Mic Night at Stage 1
The Barn / Stage 1, 46 N. Swan Street, Albany, NY
A new monthly open mic event series hosted by Albany Poets and Albany Barn featuring music from DJ Al B and some of the freshest poetry and spoken word in Albany! Some light refreshments will be served, stop by to hear some poetry, music, and more! Admission is free, there is a $2 suggested donation at the door.

8:00pm – Northampton Poetry Open Mic
Hinge, 48 Main St., Northampton, MA
Northampton’s only weekly open mic poetry night offers some of the best, most creative voices in the county. Every Tuesday night at 8:00pm. Come down and listen. Come down and share your words. Academic or slam, spoken word or political: Your words are welcome.

A weekly open Mic for music, poetry, and spoken word at one of Albany’s best new coffee shops.

 

Friday, February 28

7:00pm – Writers Read
The Good Purpose Art Gallery and Starving Artist Cafe, 40 Main St., Lee, MA
Writers Read is a monthly series of established poets and writers reading from their works. Each fourth Friday (with exception of November) will feature a poet and writer reading from their works for approximately 30 minutes each.

8:00pm – The Parlor Cafe Open Mic
The Parlor Cafe, 303 Ashland Street, North Adams, MA
A weekly open mic each and every Friday at the Parlor Cafe in North Adams for poets, musicians, and artists. Signup at the bar and get ready for the show, starting at 8:00pm.

 

Saturday, February 1

3:30pm – Poetry on the Loose

Poetry on the Loose is a monthly poetry and spoken word open mic series that takes place on the first Saturday of each month with a featured reader, hosted by William Seaton.
