The new season of the Yes, Reading! series is starting in just a couple of weeks at the Social Justice Center. On Friday, January 20 poets Peter Fernbach and Anna Elena Eyre will be joined by writer Jessy Poole and artist Maureen Jolie Anderson to kick things off for the new year.

The first Yes! of the season will be Friday night, January 20th, 8pm, @ The Albany Social Justice Center, 33 Central Avenue.

Peter Fernbach teaches at SUNY Adirondack and learns in the Phd program at SUNY Albany. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming at TYCA, The Teacher’s Voice, and English Journal. His full length collection The Blooming Void, with BlazeVOX books, was published in 2010.

Jessy Poole received an MFA in fiction writing from the University of Utah in 2008. His master’s thesis, the Almighty Banjo, is available for free download on the University of Utah’s library website. For the three years following his MFA program, he served as a mentor for the DiverseCity Writing Series in Salt Lake City. He has also served as an editorial assistant for the quarterly literary journal Rosebud, where he frequently participated in the selection process of the William Stafford prize for poetry, and the Ursula K. Le Guin prize for imaginative fiction. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in English from SUNY Albany, and is producing a new novel manuscript, entitled the Von Darling Family Circus, which is expected to serve as the creative portion of his dissertation.

Anna Elena Eyre grew up on the outskirts of a crumbling adobe commune Reality in Des Montes, New Mexico and currently resides in the concrete of Empire’s detritus. Her chapbook Are Me was published by Dancing Girl press in the fall and her first book Faceless Names: Two Books of Letters is just out from BlazeVOX press. She is a doctoral candidate in twentieth century American poetry and poetics at SUNY Albany, holds an MFA from California College of Arts and is absolutely devoted to investigations of corporeality and language.

Maureen Jolie Anderson is an artist usually working with textual and photographic archival material. Currently she is working on a film script. She has taught writings courses for visual artists at Bauhaus University in Germany where she received her MFA. Her works have been exhibited in Germany, Canada, the US and South Korea.
