The Woodstock Poetry Society returns to the Colony Cafe (22 Rock City Road, Woodstock) on Saturday, September 10 with a very special reading from David Messineo and Dennis Wayne Bressack.

This series is hosted by Chronogram poetry editor Phillip Levine on the second Saturday of each month. Here is the official release from Phillip with all of the information on the event and this months featured readers.

Poets David Messineo and Dennis Wayne Bressack will be the featured readers when the Woodstock Poetry Society & Festival meets at the Colony Cafe, 22 Rock City Road, on Saturday, September 10th, 2011 at 2pm. Note: WPS&F meetings are held the 2nd Saturday of every month at the Woodstock Community Center.

The readings will be hosted by Woodstock area poet Phillip Levine. All meetings are free, open to the public, and include an open mike.

Bios:

David Messineo – Poet/publisher/performance artist David Messineo was last featured in Woodstock, NY at Colony Cafe on Monday, November 18, 2002, as part of his 20-stop, 3-state 2002-2004 Restoration Tour. Nine years later, he returns with his follow-up to Restoration, bringing his 2011 Formal Tour to our series – where he reads his original formal/structured poetry from his sixth collection while attired in a tuxedo. The award-winning publisher of Sensations Magazine more recently was one of 26 individuals honored in 2009 with a New Jersey State Jefferson Award for Public Service, and his publication has achieved its goal of 25 years of continuous operation in 2011. Copies of his 120-page hardcover book may be purchased for $20; proceeds enable him to continue publishing the work of others via Sensations Magazine. Dennis Wayne Bressack- Dennis Wayne Bressack is a retired dentist who lives in Woodstock, NY with his wife, Abby. They have two sons, Justin and Noah.

A writer for more than 45 years, he has been a featured reader at many venues in New Jersey, Manhattan and The Mid-Hudson Valley. His essays, short stories, poems and songs have appeared in a variety of publications including Sensations Magazine, The Home Planet News, The Woodstock Journal, The New Paltz Times, Chronogram and Wildflowers.

He has self-published seven books of poetry, Rosenberg’s Farm, Driving Towards the Sunset, First You Laugh, Return to Hopiland, Please Don’t Let My Son Go To War, Water Earth and Sky, and Winter is not for Skiing (Not For Me Anyway). He also produced two CDs of music, Me and Blue and I Am The Man.
